A life in the House of Hamms

A red and white painted neo-renaissance baulk house was built in the beginning of the 1890's and nowadays it is known as a house of Hamms. In the very beginning there were acted a different kind of offices for a vet, a local police and post officers in the main building and a large workshop for carpenters in the outbuildings around the courtyard.

In the main building is still running the first chemist's in the Eura. The old fabric store is now Pirjo's atelier and jewellery factory.

The next room from the atelier has recently restored. There has been working an old style beauty salon. Nowadays Pirjo meets there the tourist groups and tells about the house and art.

 

Nearly all furnishing in the house are authentic and designed and manufactured by Frans Ansio. The interiors of the house are still original, from the change of 19th and 20th centuries. The house is like a whole work of art where visitors may undergo numerous memorable experiences.

 

The last outbuilding has been taken down. It has been replaced by a similar new house. You can found a sauna and River Gallery from the building. Read more from 'Art/River Gallery'.
